In a country where the culture is to revere guests as gods, Nepal is an ideal family holiday destination. Nepal is synonymous with its mighty Himalaya, ever smiling hospitable and friendly people, family values, rich flora and fauna, unique culture and tradition. In Nepal, you can view some of the most interesting and beautiful buildings and places. Seriously, you won't know how beautiful Nepal is until you read this article and view photos of Nepal's famous tourist attractions.
Kathmandu
Nepal bustling, sprawling capital is noisy, traffic-clogged and appallingly polluted, but also vibrant, excellent for shopping and eating and a great place to arrange trips out into the wilderness. Durbar Square, in the heart of the city, is the location of innumerable temples and ancient monuments, most notably the Old Royal Palace and the Kumari Chowk; the latter is the home of Nepal's own living goddess, the Kumari, a prepubescent girl worshipped as the living incarnation of the Hindu goddess Durga.
Nepal is a tourist friendly country. English is spoken everywhere tourism has a presence. The people are friendly and helpful. Costs are cheap, and tourist services are good. There are few real roads in Nepal, but a good bus service covers the countries bumpy roads. Kathmandu flights are also available between the large settlement.
Pokhara
One of the most popular destinations in Nepal, Pokhara is excellent for simple relaxing amid great scenery and in plenty of comfort; the views of the unforgettable Machhapuchhre (or "fish-tail peak"), the Annapurna mountain and Manaslu ranges are stunning. There are also plenty of local excursions, including hikes to the mountain viewpoint of Sarangkot or up to the World Peace Pagoda, on a ridge overlooking pretty Phewa lake.
The flight will show you excellent views over some of the Himalaya's most magnificent mountains. Quite a few flights leave every morning from Pokhara. This beautiful town is the second largest tourist centre after Kathmandu and located next to Lake Pehwa. Short after takeoff, the altitude changes radically from 900 m to 8,000 m and the little plane rises very quickly. This offers you a breathtaking view of the white hilltop at the edge of Pokhara, World Peace Stupa.
